Drinks, Scuba, Friends, and Music

vfest_09I like drinking, scuba, and music, but usually it is scuba & drinks or drinks & music. This weekend was all three :). Saturday went to a friends house in DC for a couple of drinks during the afternoon and then went to another friends house in the evening for some food and drinks.  In general, Saturday ended chilled since we were going to wake up early next morning to get a "refreshing" tropical dive [45 F. (7 C.) ] in Lake Millbrook (a.k.a sarcastically as "Millbrook Springs").

Just as I finished my 1 hour dive, I threw all my wet gear in my trunk and drove to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland to see the 2009 Virgin Mobile Festival.  The Virgin Fest is a spin-off from the V Festival, for you blokes in the UK.  This year, in an official statement released by Virgin Mobile, they state that due to the current economic status, they're having the festival free of charge for all concert goers, so you can't beat the price.

At first I was there by myself, but then ran into some friends before the big shows started so it turned out well.   The line up was:

  • Blink-182

  • Weezer

  • Taking Back Sunday

  • Jet

  • Franz Ferdinand

  • Mates of State

  • The Hold Steady

  • Wale

  • Public Enemy

  • The Bravery

  • St. Vincent

  • Girl Talk

  • The National

  • Danny Howells

  • Holy Fuck

  • Lee Burridge

  • Pete Tong

I'm not much into Blink-182, so in my opinion Franz Ferdinand was the best show of the festival.  The Bravery was also good!

Wife gets revenge on husband for cheating

So this man called William Taylor (whom I don't know) cheated on his wife and his punishment for cheating is to stand at a busy intersection of the 12th largest district in the United States, {en:Tysons Corner, Virginia} and appear in the news as an extra bonus. Now why would I want to publish this on my blog????? Well, for one, it's hilarious; second, the office building that I work at is shown in the background of the picture.

Here is the full article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32568430

I wonder if any USA Today employees saw this and reported it considering their headquarters is also in Tysons Corner.

We still remember Raymond

walkingTo all whom I’ve Loved

Because if I abandon this valley of
tears, it is to go to the heavenly
kingdom of our dearest Father. Don’t
be afraid for me, I’m going with the
Lord. Don’t cry for me, for I will be
in the union of Jesus Christ our
savor, our brother. Don’t worry for
me, for in all my life I have travel the
world many of times, and with my
passing, I will see the world from the
heavens. The hand of God will guide
me so that I can watch over you, the
ones I love.

I who has loved you,
Will always be with you

Weekend dive

Took a quick escape to lake Rawlings to get a dive in and I managed to get two dives in with a total of two hours of bottom time ( avg 30 ft / 9m) with one 119 cu.ft. tank and still had almost 900 psi / 62 bar left, which is about 31 cu.ft left in the tank. In the second dive I broke my bottom time record of 90 minutes.

New My Music Page

I just created a page that shows live data of the music I listen to the most. The numbers come from Last.FM and they are updated live by my Windows machine at work and my Linux at home.

My 28th Birthday

This year I turned 28 and celebrated my birthday at the Reef in Adams Morgan, Washington, DC.  After the bars closed, we had an afterparty at my flat where we drank Patron Tequila and Xellent Swiss Vodka, the good stuff.   Next day the hang over was under control, but the heat dehydrated me very quick which then was not as good.  Overall, I had a great day.

28 years of loans and criminal activity.

I'm turning 28 this Sunday and usually before my birthday I think a little about my past, but today I got curious to a different past that I normally never think of. Today wanted to know what banks, employers, governments, etc. know about me so I decided to get a criminal background check and credit check to see what's on it. The process for getting a background check is creepy because all you need is the person's full name and their state and $40 bucks. The credit check was a bit more secure since it asked for a social security number and some questions that the individual would usually know. In addition, unlike the background check, the credit check shows you who has performed inquiries to your credit history.

I was pleased with my credit history since I received 770 out of 830. According to the report, my credit rating ranks higher than 82.32% of U.S. consumers. The only thing that was found on my report that had a negative impact on my score was a $30 something medical bill that was unpaid when I was in college back in 2003. Since I moved to Washington DC, I never received the bill and it eventually went to my history as unpaid.

My background check was interesting. Apparently I have 5 name aliases, all misspelled versions of my full name (e.g. Everett instead of Everitt). Also, it said that I have reported multiple birthdays where one said I was born in the year 1922 making me 87 years old. Don't know if I'm wrong, but isn't 1922 the default Microsoft Windows year in some applications? My background check also said that I am NOT a sex offender, thank goodness!!!! I would freak out if there was a clerical mistake in that category. The background also showed all the addressed I lived at along with my neighbor's phone numbers, names, a link to their background check, and how many sex offenders were in the area….creepy. My mother's house was also listed in the background check, how much it was worth, and how much my mother paid taxes on it last year along with a link to her background check.  There were also links to my sibling's background check ... wow.

However, I did find four criminal offenses on my background check:

  • Arlington, VA 2007 -- DRIVING W/OUT VALID REGISTER. I remember this one; I was pulled over during rush hour going to work because my license plates were expired.

  • Arlington, VA 2008 -- FAIL STOP/YIELD ENTERING HWY. This was annoying, I was driving outside of my house and I didn't do a complete stop at the stop sign and a cop saw me.

  • Fairfax Co, 2007 -- OPER UNINSPECTED VEHICLE. I always forget to renew my Virginia inspection tags.

  • Fairfax Co, 2007 -- HOV VIOLATION. I remember this one. I was driving on I-66 (inside the beltway) around 4:15pm going back to work all happy that I found an apartment for my roommate Pere and me to live in. I found out the expensive way that all I-66 lanes inside the beltway become HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes after 4 pm.

This information is what employers, banks, etc. look at. I wonder what else is out there in a database that I don't know about (e.g. my medical records, etc.) and what it says on it and if there are any mistakes.
